Black Women Are Rising

Since 1998, Black women have registered and voted more than our male counterparts and we currently outpace white men, white women and all other ethnic groups in voter turnout.

BLACK WOMEN ARE THE DEMOCRATIC BASE

Black women largely contributed to victories for President Barack Obama’s 2008 and 2012 victories and were a deciding factor for Hillary Clinton’s Democratic primary win. On the state level, Black women helped deliver victories in Pennsylvania and Virginia in 2012 and elected Black women to state legislatures in 3 states in 2015.

BLACK WOMEN POWER THE VOTE IN GEORGIA

Black women lead at the polls in Georgia, representing the largest voting bloc in Georgia's democratic electorate. Over 20 counties in the state have a majority of Black women as registered voters. As elected leaders, Black women represent 75% of Democratic women in the state legislature.
